5 MW "Diyajanani" Floating Solar Plant Connected to National Grid 📈

• Project Overview: The 5 MW "Diyajanani" floating solar facility, built across 10.5 acres on Dambulla’s Ibbankatuwa Tank, was officially commissioned today under the patronage of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake. The project was developed by Diyajanani (Pvt) Ltd using local engineering expertise and provided short-term employment to ~150 local residents. • Macroeconomic & Environmental Impact: • Power Supply: Generates annual electricity sufficient to meet the power needs of ~7,500 households. • Forex Savings: Replaces ~2.5 million litres of imported diesel annually, saving Sri Lanka roughly USD 3 Mn in foreign exchange each year. • Emissions Offset: Cuts carbon dioxide emissions by ~6,440 metric tonnes per year. • Community Outreach: Included localized CSR grants covering a generator and Rs. 800,000 for Sri Vivekarama Temple, Rs. 2.0 Mn for the local fishing community, Rs. 1.0 Mn for a Clean Sri Lanka green park, Rs. 800,000 for Anakatava Primary School supplies, and Rs. 400,000 for Weera Mohan Jayamaha School's water project. • Key Sector Stakeholders: Senior officials from the Ministry of Energy, Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority, Ceylon Electricity Board successor entities, and WindForce PLC (renewable energy) attended the grid integration event.
