AOAOA Welcomes Sri Lanka’s Proactive Engagement with ICAO Ahead of 2027 Safety Audit ✈️
• Aviation Safety Standards: The Aircraft Owners and Operators Association (AOAOA) commended the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) and DGCA Captain Daminda Rambukwella for proactively strengthening national aviation safety oversight ahead of the upcoming formal ICAO USOAP-CMA audit in 2027. • Technical Assistance: In August 2026, a Capacity Assessment and Technical (CAT) mission was conducted as a technical assistance initiative by CAASL specialists and an eight-member ICAO expert team to enhance readiness. • Industry Impact: The association highlighted that maintaining a sustainable oversight system supports national development, flight training, and general aviation, while emphasizing safety as a shared duty across flying schools, pilots, engineers, and airport authorities.
