Applications Open for Inaugural Geoffrey Bawa Moonamal Award 🌿

The Geoffrey Bawa Moonamal Award, presented with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society of Sri Lanka, has opened calls for its inaugural cycle to recognize implemented projects balancing human needs with ecological thriving. • Award Overview & Categories: Built Environment: Covers architecture, infrastructure, urban design, and landscape design. Public Policy: Recognizes policies enabling or incentivizing ecological design. • Eligibility & Assessment Criteria: Open to individuals, government agencies, NGOs, community groups, researchers, and multidisciplinary teams. Projects must be implemented in Sri Lanka within the last 10 years and completed for at least one year. Evaluated on mitigating environmental damage, supporting ecological recovery, and integrating local context (geography, hydrology, flora, fauna). • Strategic Partnerships: Supported by the Sri Lanka Institute of Landscape Architects (SLILA) and the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka (IESL) to drive interdisciplinary collaboration across architecture, engineering, and environmental sectors. • Application Timeline: Online submissions open in Sinhala, Tamil, or English from 31st August 2026 to 15th January 2027. Shortlist and winners to be announced in mid-2027; winners receive a fellowship for further learning and public engagement.
