Browns Hotels and Resorts has officially launched BIGG CARE, a comprehensive Sustainability Strategic Plan designed to integrate ESG principles across its operations to support tourism, hospitality, and community resilience in Sri Lanka. • Core Framework & Objectives: BIGG CARE stands for Green Governance, Climate Action, Accountability, Resource Efficiency, and Engagement. The strategy transitions sustainability from standalone initiatives into an integrated operational discipline focusing on climate resilience, energy/water stewardship, circular economy, biodiversity, and community development. Structure assigns responsibility across all organizational tiers, from the Board to property-level execution teams led by Sustainability Lead Prabuddha Siriwardhena. • Strategic Value for Sri Lanka: Aligns corporate governance with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GRI reporting standards, and national environmental priorities. Emphasizes eco-innovation, destination preservation, local procurement, and community employment to maintain quality tourism inflows and long-term economic resilience. • Key Launches at Event: Unveiled at The Eden Beruwala alongside key stakeholders, including UN-Habitat Sri Lanka Country Program Manager Harshini Halangode.
