🇱🇰 Cabinet Approves 10-Year TVET Roadmap to Tackle Skills Mismatch

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the Strategic Framework for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) 2026–2035 to align vocational training with domestic and international labor market demands. • Strategic Framework (2026–2035): Formulated with technical assistance from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to serve as national strategic guidelines. • Skills Development System Transformation Program (2027–2031): Acts as the principal implementation phase to restructure governance, upgrade infrastructure, and enhance education quality. • Key Priorities: - Strengthen the Advanced Level vocational stream and expand equitable access. - Boost industry participation and accelerate digital transformation. - Establish sustainable financing mechanisms with support from development partners. • Governance: Proposal submitted by Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya in her capacity as Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education.
