The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the implementation of a German-funded program to promote energy-efficient and climate-resilient buildings in Sri Lanka, backed by a technical cooperation financial grant. Key Highlights: • Funding Total: A grant of € 924,063 (approximately Rs. 314 million) provided under the existing framework agreement on technical cooperation between the Governments of Sri Lanka and Germany. • Implementation & Framework: The initiative will be executed by the German development agency, GIZ, in collaboration with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Energy and the Sustainable Energy Authority. • Economic & National Impact: The program focuses on sustainable infrastructure by supporting Sri Lanka in developing policies, institutional frameworks, and technical capacity.
