The Ceylon Chamber of Shipping (CCS) was officially launched on 9 September at the Colombo International Maritime Conference, establishing a unified platform for the nation's maritime & shipping sector. • Official Unveiling: Website launched by US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) Chairman Laura DiBella, Commissioner Robert J. Harvey, and Western Province Governor Hanif Yusoof. • Core Scope: Unites ship owners, operators, shipping agents, logistics providers, NVOCCs, and maritime service providers. • Strategic Objectives: Strengthen industry representation, advance operational excellence, enhance international connectivity, build capacity, and support stronger policy frameworks. • Economic Context: Aims to leverage Sri Lanka's strategic Indian Ocean position along major global trade routes, expanding Colombo’s role beyond traditional transshipment into integrated logistics, trade facilitation, and technology. • Initiators: Conceived by Col.
