• Strategic Focus: Colombo International Container Terminals (CICT) is shifting port performance metrics beyond cargo throughput to embed sustainability directly into daily operations, reinforcing efficiency alongside environmental responsibility. • Green Fleet & Electrification: - Fully electrified its Rubber-Tyred Gantry (RTG) crane fleet, transitioning from diesel to electric power. - Converting diesel Inter Terminal Vehicles (ITVs) to electric models, supported by dedicated charging stations to lower fuel consumption and emissions. • Resource Management: - Implemented rainwater harvesting, condensate water reuse, digital documentation, and smart energy management to eliminate resource waste (fuel, water, paper, time). • Community & Conservation: - Principal sponsor for a 3-year sea turtle conservation initiative in Colombo with the Wildlife and Nature Protection Society. - Long-standing support for Sri Lanka’s Wheelchair Tennis programme and inter-university sports partnerships (Ambassador Cup). • Governance & Compliance: - Operates under certified management systems including ISO 14001 (Environmental) and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety). - Aligns with China Merchants Port network's ESG framework to elevate Sri Lanka's supply chain competitiveness in global trade.
