The Colombo stock market closed in the green yesterday, driven by improved investor sentiment and strong retail participation. • Market Indices & Turnover: ASPI: Up 0.89% (+198.46 points) to 22,407.04. S&P SL20: Gained 0.99% (+61.10 points) to 6,242.75. Market Turnover: Reached Rs. 2.72 Bn involving 67.79 million shares traded. Foreign Trade: Remained net sellers with a net outflow of Rs. 50.3 Mn. • Sector & Stock Highlights: Materials: Led daily turnover with a 23% share; sector index gained 1.86%, driven by Samson International (+Rs. 13.50 to Rs. 490) and Haycarb (+Rs. 8.75 to Rs. 165.25). Capital Goods & Diversified Financials: Collectively contributed 32% to daily turnover. Capital Goods index increased by 1.74%. Top ASPI Contributors: DIAL, JKH, HAYL, MELS, and DIPD. • Investor Activity: High net worth (HNW) and institutional participation was noted in Commercial Bank (+50 cents to Rs. 209), Singer Sri Lanka, and Hatton National Bank (non-voting).
