Govt. Launches Unified Digital Platforms for Fisheries and Plantations via IDAT 📈

• Overview: The Sri Lankan Government has handed over Government-owned Decision Support Systems (DSS) for the fisheries and plantation sectors under the Inclusive Digital Agriculture Transformation (IDAT) Program to strengthen evidence-based governance, resource management, and digital public infrastructure. • Fisheries Sector DSS: Integrates data from 6 state entities, including NAQDA, Ceylon Fisheries Harbours Corp, Ceylon Fisheries Corp, Cey-Nor Foundation, North Sea Ltd, and the Central Fish Market. Features dashboards, analytics, and alerts for production, aquaculture, and sustainability. • Plantation Sector DSS: Consolidates data from 7 key bodies to monitor performance, district trends, exports, subsidies, and climate impacts across major crops: • Tea (Sri Lanka Tea Board, TSHDA) • Rubber (Rubber Development Dept, RRISL) • Coconut (Coconut Cultivation Board, CDA) • Cashew (Sri Lanka Cashew Corporation) • Program Delivery: Executed by the IDAT Consortium—comprising the Ministries of Fisheries, Plantation, and Digital Economy alongside Sarvodaya, PwC, MillenniumIT ESP, and PMO Connect to Care (CTC)—with support reviewed by a Gates Foundation delegation.
