📈 Govt. Plans Rs. 42 Bn Investment in Vocational Education (2027–2031)
• Overall Investment: The Government will allocate nearly Rs. 42 Bn between 2027 and 2031 to improve vocational education across Sri Lanka. • VTA Allocation: Rs. 4 Bn is earmarked specifically to strengthen the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) and transform it into a centre of excellence in every province. • Key Reforms: Focus areas include introducing courses aligned with global demand, updating curricula, filling staff vacancies, improving student facilities, and broadening pathways beyond exam-based education to support workforce development. • Graduate Output: A total of 717 students across 15 courses received diplomas at the VTA’s 5th Diploma Convocation in Colombo.
