Govt to Lease Underutilised Plantation Land to Returning Young Migrant Workers 📈

The Cabinet has approved a long-term leasing initiative to attract capital, skills, and foreign exchange contributions from overseas-employed Sri Lankans by making productive use of State lands. • Overall Allocation & Scope Total Land Earmarked: 247 hectares of underutilised State plantation land. Land Allocation Breakdown: • Sri Lanka State Plantations Corporation (SLSPC): 117 hectares • Janatha Estates Development Board (JEDB): 88 hectares • Elkaduwa Plantation Ltd: 42 hectares Individual Eligibility: 1 to 4 hectares per selected applicant. • Criteria for Applicants Target Group: Returning Sri Lankan foreign workers with 3+ years of overseas employment during the past 10 years, or current foreign workers employed abroad for 3+ years. Age Limit: Up to 50 years.
