The second phase of the Global Textile and Clothing Programme (GTEX2) has launched in Sri Lanka, aiming to enhance the competitiveness and global market presence of the country's apparel sector. • Key Collaborators: The initiative is a joint effort by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB), International Trade Centre (ITC), Switzerland's State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA). • Program Duration: GTEX2 will run from 2024 to 2027. • National Target: Sri Lanka aims to achieve US$ 8 billion in apparel exports by 2030, with GTEX2 playing a pivotal role. • Onboarding Event: A recent event on December 8, 2025, welcomed new beneficiary SMEs and outlined the program's objectives for 2026.
