• Hambantota International Port (HIP) has seen a massive surge in cargo volumes, recording a 151% Year-on-Year (YoY) increase up to September 2025. • Total throughput for the period reached 6.03 Million MT (up from 2.40 Million MT last year). • Key Drivers: Strong growth was noted in vehicle transshipment, which rose 26% YoY. The port also saw gains in bunkering, LPG throughput, and energy services. • Operational Management: The growth was sustained despite operational challenges and yard congestion following the lifting of the local vehicle import ban.
