The Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) has appointed Yashoravi Bakmiwewa as its 14th Director General, marking a historic shift in the organization’s 97-year history. • The Milestone: Bakmiwewa is the first female Director General in EFC history and the first woman to head an Employers’ Business Member Organisation (EBMO) in South Asia. She succeeds Vajira Ellepola. • Professional Background: An Attorney-at-Law admitted to the Supreme Court in 2007, she holds an LL.B. from the University of Colombo and a Master’s in Labour Relations and Human Resources Management.
