⢠Overall Figures: Total investment of up to US$ 40 Mn in South Asia Gateway Terminals (Pvt) Ltd (SAGT) via a sustainability-linked loan of up to US$ 20 Mn from IFC (including up to US$ 8.57 Mn mobilized via MCPP) and a parallel green loan of up to US$ 20 Mn from HSBC. ⢠Key Objectives: Modernize and decarbonize operations at the Port of Colombo, funding advanced twin-lift ship-to-shore cranes to boost productivity and reduce energy use. ⢠Impact & Projections: Raises quay-side productivity by at least 11%, expands handling capacity for transshipment and domestic container traffic, lowers the carbon footprint, and creates jobs while boosting opportunities for women. ⢠Strategic Context: Reinforces Sri Lanka's position as South Asia's leading transshipment hub, supporting the maritime and logistics sector which contributes around 2.5% of GDP.
