📈 IRD Urges 1.2M Taxpayers to File Returns Before Nov 30
Sri Lanka’s Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has called on nearly 1.2 million registered individual taxpayers to submit their 2025/2026 annual income tax returns online via ird.gov.lk before the November 30 deadline. Failure to comply empowers the department to issue financial penalties, estimated assessments, or initiate legal action. • Filing Mandate: All registered individuals must file, including those without taxable income or those whose taxes were fully deducted via PAYE, Advance Personal Income Tax (APIT), or withholding tax on interest. • Submission & Support: Returns must be submitted through the RAMIS portal using an email/SMS OTP. Simplified auto-filled forms are available for employment/interest income earners, while business income earners must use standard returns. IRD has urged early submission to prevent system congestion.
