📈 MAS Holdings Backs Syntetica’s $30M Series A for Nylon Recycling

Source

French deep tech startup Syntetica secured US$ 30 Mn in Series A funding to scale technology for recycling complex textile waste. The investment round was led by Bpifrance’s Ecotechnologies 2 fund, with participation from Sri Lankan apparel & textiles giant MAS Holdings, lululemon, SWEN Capital Partners, EQT Ventures, and key family offices. • Funding & Expansion: The US$ 30 Mn round will fund Syntetica's first commercial demonstration facility in France in partnership with Michelin. The plant will scale the process from laboratory testing to processing hundreds of tonnes of textile waste annually. • Technical Breakthrough: Syntetica developed a proprietary process to recycle both Nylon 6 and Nylon 6,6 together from mixed waste without prior separation, overcoming a major technical hurdle in apparel & textiles circularity. • Market & Sector Relevance: - Global nylon production reached ~7 million tonnes in 2024, but recycled nylon accounts for only ~2% of the market due to processing challenges. - Over 80% of household textile waste is currently incinerated or landfilled. Syntetica targets post-consumer waste to build circular supply chains. - MAS Holdings leverages its manufacturing expertise to scale circular material solutions, reinforcing Sri Lanka's positioning in sustainable global apparel & textiles supply chains.
