• Global fashion brand Michael Kors has contributed US$ 2.7 Mn to the UN World Food Programme (WFP) through its ‘Watch Hunger Stop’ campaign. • The funding will bolster Sri Lanka’s National School Meals Program via WFP’s Home-Grown School Feeding (HGSF) initiative over the next three years. • Key Impact: • Daily nutritious meals secured for 250,000 children. • Program expansion from 8 to 10 districts. • Direct support for 1,500 local farmers and caterers to supply fresh, local produce. • Sustainability & Infrastructure: 30 schools will receive upgrades, including the installation of solar-powered kitchens to reduce costs and promote sustainability. • The HGSF approach aims to strengthen local food systems, empower primarily women farmers and meal providers, and enhance national resilience against food insecurity.
