🏛️ Parliament Engages Gampaha Youth on Policy Reform

• Initiative Overview: The Parliamentary Caucus for Open Parliament Initiative, alongside the Coalition for Inclusive Impact (CII), launched the first "Voice to Policy Dialogue" phase at Jetwing Blue, Negombo, connecting 65+ Gampaha youths with 7 MPs. • Core Sectors & Concerns: • Higher Education & Vocational Training: Reducing graduation timeframes and creating targeted skill pathways. • Entrepreneurship & Livelihoods: Improving access, awareness, and opportunities for young entrepreneurs. • ICT/BPM & Emerging Tech: Equipping youth for technology, digital transformation, and cryptocurrency opportunities. • Governance & Healthcare: Expanding youth participation in public service, politics, healthcare, and infrastructure. • Implementation & Next Steps: • Proposals will be documented by an appointed youth rapporteur and submitted to the Open Parliamentary Caucus. • Participants may be invited to parliamentary committees to contribute directly to policymaking. • The dialogue series will expand to Kandy and Batticaloa before rolling out across additional districts.
