Local ride-hailing giant PickMe has activated its full logistical and digital network to support nationwide flood relief efforts, responding to one of Sri Lanka's most devastating flood disasters. • Emergency Initiative: The company launched a three-pronged approach leveraging its shared-economy infrastructure to coordinate citizen donations, monetary aid, and assist urgent transport/rescue operations. • In-App 'AID' Feature: A special "AID" option is now available under the "Rides" service, enabling users to request free doorstep pickups of relief packs (dry rations, essentials) from their homes. • Financial Aid: Digital monetary donations are accepted through the PickMe Events platform, channeled directly to vetted partners, currently including Round Table Sri Lanka. • Logistics & Partnerships: A central collection hub is established at PickMe HQ (Colombo 6). Physical collections are dispatched immediately to affected zones in partnership with Ada Derana's humanitarian program. • PickMe's extensive driver network is actively providing on-the-ground support, utilizing its digital platform capabilities for the first large-scale humanitarian response of this kind by a Sri Lankan digital platform. Collections data will be published for transparency upon project conclusion.
