🏥 Rs. 12 Bn Healthcare Infrastructure Investment Launched in Single Day

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake led the launch of four major hospital expansion projects across Sri Lanka, representing a total value of Rs. 12 billion including medical equipment (Rs. 7.1 billion in construction costs). • Trincomalee District General Hospital: Construction of a new Cardiology Unit valued at Rs. 4.19 billion (Rs. 2.4 billion for construction, Rs. 1.78 billion for equipment), funded via grant aid from the Government of Japan through JICA. • Mannar District General Hospital: Groundbreaking for a new Accident and Emergency Unit costing Rs. 600 million, financed by the Government of India. • Mullaitivu Hospital: Commencement of a four-storeyed medical ward complex valued at Rs. 600 million, also funded by India. • Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital: Launch of a new Cardiology Unit project valued at over Rs. 3 billion. The multi-regional expansion highlights significant bilateral aid support from Japan and India to strengthen Sri Lanka's healthcare service capacity and regional critical care facilities.
