The Institute of Policy Studies of Sri Lanka (IPS) celebrated six of its young researchers winning fully funded scholarships and admissions to top international universities, boosting local policy analysis capacity. • Awardees & Universities: • Suresh Ranasinghe: Commencing PhD in Economics at Nottingham Trent University, UK (Oct 2025). Previously MSc from University of Nottingham via Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. • Usha Perera: Secured ESRC funding for PhD in Economics at Lancaster University, UK (Oct 2026). Holds MSc from University of Leeds via Commonwealth Shared Scholarship. • Chandula Idirisinghe: Awarded fully funded PhD scholarship in Management at University of Guelph, Canada (Sept 2026). • Himani Vithanage: Awarded Commonwealth Master's Scholarship for MSc in Economics for Development at University of Oxford, UK (Sept 2026). • Chaya Dissanayake: Won Commonwealth Shared Scholarship for MSc in Risk and Disaster Science at University College London (UCL), UK (Sept 2026). • Dinithi Athulathmudali: Won Commonwealth Master's Scholarship for MSc in Economics for Development at University of Oxford, UK (Sept 2026). • Core Focus Areas: • Research specializations cover critical national policy areas including health, education, and labour policy, agriculture & agribusiness, and disaster risk preparedness.
