📈 SLT-MOBITEL Digitizes Colombo Central Bus Stand
SLT-MOBITEL has completed a major digital infrastructure upgrade at the Colombo Central Bus Stand, aimed at modernizing public transport through enhanced connectivity and citizen-centric services. • Infrastructure Upgrades: Installed real-time digital scheduling displays and facility-wide Wi-Fi to improve passenger convenience and operational transparency for thousands of daily commuters. • Digital Ticketing Launch: Introduced an Online Bus Ticket Reservation Platform (piloted on Makumbura–Matara/Galle routes) via _busticket.gov.lk_, self-service kiosks, and a dedicated hotline (011 200 1266). • Strategic Impact: This initiative supports the national goal of digitizing public transport, offering commuters greater predictability while providing operators with improved scheduling discipline and visibility. • Future Outlook: Developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport and the NTC, the project is currently in a feedback-gathering phase to refine systems and prepare for a potential national rollout to further strengthen the ICT/BPM integration in the transport sector.
