📈 Sri Lanka & ADB Discuss 2026–2029 Development Priorities

A preparatory meeting was co-chaired at the Presidential Secretariat by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake and ADB Country Director Shannon Cowlin to review Sri Lanka’s 2026–2029 development agenda ahead of the official annual review on October 5–6, 2026. • Strategic Focus Areas • Prioritizing major long-term project selection for funding and execution. • Strengthening national ownership over ADB-funded projects. • Streamlining coordination between Sri Lankan public management systems and ADB operational procedures. • Optimizing the distribution of limited concessional financing and technical support. • Macroeconomic Goals • Formulating execution strategies to accelerate economic growth and satisfy national fiscal targets. • Aligning direct assistance with key growth sectors including resilient infrastructure, education & skills, digital transformation, and trade & logistics.
