• Key Objective & High-Level Engagement: The Government of Sri Lanka and the European Union (EU) convened a ministerial-level Investment Dialogue at Shangri-La Colombo on 31 July 2026. The session aimed to sustain investor confidence, enhance policy consistency, and expand economic cooperation under Sri Lanka's IMF-supported reform programme. • Regulatory & Policy Reforms: Following an independent Investment Climate Assessment, discussions focused on translating economic vision into practice through key reforms: - Implementation of a digital Single Window Investment Approval System - Introduction of the proposed Investment Protection Bill - Modernization of customs and industrial zones • Trade & Market Access: - Emphasized the critical importance of continued preferential market access under the EU GSP+ scheme, which expires on 31 December 2026. - Highlighted investment expansion opportunities via the EU’s Global Gateway strategy. • Key Participants: Represented by the Chairman of the Board of Investment (BOI), Deputy Ministers of Finance, Foreign Affairs, and Industries, alongside the EU Ambassador and Ambassadors of France, Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands.
