⛽ Sri Lanka Approves Major Long-Term Fuel Procurement Contracts
The Cabinet of Ministers has approved long-term supply agreements to secure uninterrupted fuel supplies across the national energy sector through the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC). Contracts were awarded to Singapore-based Vitol Asia Ltd. and Aditya Birla Global Trading Ltd. following competitive bidding. • Petrol 92 Supply Aditya Birla Global Trading selected from 4 bidders to supply 1.2 Mn barrels (±5%) of Petrol 92 Unleaded. Duration: 1 September 2026 – 28 February 2027 (6 months). • Murban Crude Oil Aditya Birla Global Trading selected from 4 bidders to supply 2.8 Mn barrels (±5%) of Murban crude oil. Duration: 1 November 2026 – 28 February 2027 (4 months). • Diesel Procurement Vitol Asia Ltd. selected from 6 bidders to supply 1.12 Mn tons (±5%) of diesel (0.05% max sulphur content). Duration: 1 September 2026 – 28 February 2027 (6 months). The proposal submitted by Energy Minister Anura Karunathilake strengthens Sri Lanka's overall petroleum & power supply stability and energy infrastructure.
