On its 47th anniversary, the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) announced key progress and strategic targets for the national export sector: ⢠Performance & Targets: - H1 2026 Revenue: Generated nearly US$ 9 Bn in export earnings. - 2026 Target: On track to reach a record-breaking US$ 19 Bn by end of 2026. - 2030 Vision: Target of US$ 36 Bn (US$ 27 Bn from merchandise, US$ 8 Bn from services). - GDP & SME Contribution: Aiming for exports to contribute 25% to GDP by 2026, with SMEs contributing 25% of the total export sector. ⢠Sector Diversification: - National Export Development Plan launched on June 16th focuses on 8 new high-potential sectors beyond traditional exports. - Notable growth observed in electronics, food & beverages, IT/BPM, and logistics. ⢠Sri Lanka Expo 2027: - Set for Jan 14ā17, 2027 at BMICH after a 15-year hiatus. - Features 650 selected exporters, 200+ stalls reserved for SMEs, and 1,500+ foreign buyers. - Includes the country's largest-ever Investor Forum on Jan 15 in collaboration with BOI, Ministry of Tourism, and Port City.
