Sri Lanka Launches National Workshop to Drive AI & Public Sector Transformation š
A three-day workshop commenced in Colombo (20 July) to accelerate digital governance and strengthen the capacity of senior public sector officials. ⢠Key Focus Areas: ⢠Developing a national data governance framework and ethical AI policies. ⢠Implementing interoperable systems, digital public services, and agentic AI tools. ⢠Building institutional action plans for responsible AI adoption and evidence-based decisions. ⢠Organizers & Leadership: ⢠Jointly organized by UN DESA (DPIDG & UNPOG), Presidential Secretariat, and UN in Sri Lanka. ⢠Key attendees include Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya (Senior Adviser on Digital Economy), Dr. Rajesh Pandav (UN Resident Coordinator), Roshan Gamage (Senior Additional Secretary), Changseob Han (Head of UNPOG), and Shevan Gunatilake (CEO of GovTech Sri Lanka). ⢠Strategic Impact: ⢠Aims to boost ICT/BPM integration in the public sector, improve inter-agency collaboration, and optimize public service delivery to strengthen national operational efficiency.
