Sri Lanka recorded 158,557 tourist arrivals in September 2026, marking a slight 0.26% YoY drop compared to 158,971 visitors in September 2025. Monthly arrivals also slipped 3.3% compared to August 2026. • Overall Figures: Year-to-date (YTD) arrivals reached 1,693,679 visitors. Total arrivals for the January–August 2026 period declined 2% YoY compared to the same period in 2025. • Top Source Markets: • India: Remained the leading source market with 51,931 visitors (32% of total arrivals). • China: Ranked second with 11,722 visitors. • Australia: Contributed 10,951 visitors. • Tourism Earnings: Earnings for August 2026 were estimated at US$ 264 Mn, up 2.1% YoY. However, cumulative earnings for January–August 2026 fell 10% YoY to US$ 2.1 Bn.
