🏛️ Surveyors’ Institute of Sri Lanka Marks 100 Years of Service

• Milestone Celebration: The Surveyors’ Institute of Sri Lanka (SISL) will celebrate its centennial anniversary on 2 August 2026, marking 100 years of contributions to land administration, mapping, and national development. A technical session and gala dinner will be held at Cinnamon Lakeside, Colombo. • Historical Footprint: Established in 1926 as the Licenced Surveyors’ Association of Ceylon and incorporated by Parliament in 1982, SISL is a founding member of the Organisation of Professional Associations, CASLE, and a member of FIG. • Key National Contributions: • Advocated for the Registration of Title Act No. 21 of 1998, founding the “Bimsaviya” land titling program to minimize land disputes. • Supported the Survey Act No. 17 of 2002, modernizing legal frameworks and establishing the Survey Board. • Supported the UGC-approved degree in Surveying Sciences at Diyatalawa and the establishment of the National Hydrographic Office. • Future Focus: SISL remains committed to driving Sri Lanka’s economic and structural goals through digital land administration, geospatial innovation, sustainable infrastructure planning, and climate resilience.
