📈 UNFPA & Parliament partner for data-driven policymaking

The Parliament of Sri Lanka and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to integrate population data and evidence into the legislative process. • Strategic Objective: Strengthen national development priorities by addressing critical demographic shifts, including population ageing and changing family structures. • Key Focus Areas: • Enhancing evidence-based policymaking for future legislation. • Advancing gender equality and protecting the rights of women and young people. • Strengthening national health systems to better respond to evolving development needs. • Partnership Scope: The agreement, signed by Parliament Secretary-General Kushani Anusha Rohanadeera and UNFPA Representative Phuntsho Wangyel, aims to ensure future policies are inclusive and rights-centered. • Ongoing Support: UNFPA continues to provide essential reproductive healthcare and humanitarian assistance, including recent interventions for communities affected by Cyclone Ditwah.
