US Partners with Sri Lanka to Launch Nationwide Dengue Response Program 📈

• Key Initiative: The US Embassy has partnered with Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Health and the National Dengue Control Unit to launch the Public Health Pest Control and Vector-Borne Disease Response program to address the ongoing nationwide dengue outbreak. • Funding & US Entities: Program is funded through the US Department of War’s Overseas Humanitarian, Disaster, and Civic Aid (OHDACA) program. It brings in expertise from the US Army Pacific (USARPAC) and the 18th Theater Medical Command. • Core Scope: Conducted in Colombo, the program shares technical expertise in preventive medicine, disease surveillance, entomology, and integrated vector management to complement local mosquito breeding eradication, public awareness, and predictive prevention methods. • Socio-Economic Relevance: Strengthens national public health infrastructure and long-term community resilience, mitigating biological risks to local workforce and regional security alongside bilateral frameworks like CARAT and Atlas Angel.
