The event is presented by the Matara Festival for the Arts (MFA) alongside key partners, including Nations Trust Bank Private Banking. • Business & Operations: • Founded Jez-Look Batik after pivoting from handloom weaving in October 1971. • Sustains her operations via a workshop in Matara powered by a team of 15 multi-generational women, driving local female employment and economic independence. • Maintained operations through word-of-mouth marketing for over four decades, navigating civil war, COVID-19, and recent economic crises. • Global Reach & Recognition: • Garnered international acclaim with showcases across Switzerland, Rome, Milan, and Las Vegas. • Created bespoke designs worn by the late Queen Elizabeth II across three separate Jubilees. • Work acquired for the World Bank Sri Lanka’s permanent collection; set to receive her first local Lifetime Achievement Award this September.
